Fulcrum Gains ATCA Design Win
The win is significant because the Packet Genie 1000 is an advanced design that includes Ethernet oversubscription capabilities from Ample Communications, security processing from Cavium Networks and layer 4-7 packet processing capabilities from EZChip Technologies.
“PivotPoint frees networking designs from restrictive, fixed chip-to-chip communications paths – an essential step to delivering flexible systems at multi-gigabit wire speeds,” said Mike Zeile, vice president of marketing for Fulcrum Microsystems. “The Packet Genie offers very advanced capabilities, with cost-efficient modularity, which makes it a great example of the potential of this new architecture.”
The FM1010 is a six-interface, SPI-4.2 crossbar switch chip. It interconnects all of the data path devices in the Packet Genie board, providing high throughput and low latency, and enabling data to “flow back” multiple times between interconnected packet processing resources as needed to support the application.
