In a quiet equipment testing wave, CableLabs certified three new tech products for interoperable use by cable operators last week, including one advanced home networking gateway and two more DOCSIS 2.0 cable modems.
CableLabs approved a wireless residential gateway from SMC Networks under the consortium's CableHome 1.1 spec. SMC scored with its SMC8014WG-CHM model, which appears to be a step up from its SMC8013WG wireless gateway passed by CableLabs a number of testing rounds ago.
On the DOCSIS 2.0 front, CableLabs approved new modems from Taiwanese startup WideView Technology and Askey. WideView took the honors for its WM-100 modem while Askey passed muster with its new CMM300 modem.
This was the seventh round of a record eight equipment testing rounds this year. CableLabs' final certification wave, which started earlier this month, will wrap up in early December.
