Avail & TVN Seal the Deal

11:15 AM -- Avail Media and TVN made their merger official today and formed Avail-TVN. The combined company reaches 120 million consumers through more than 230 cable, telecom, DBS, and hybrid providers. The merger was first announced on May 18.

Now the merger fun begins. The original two companies had somewhat different focuses and, I assume, different cultures. Avail Media was focused on the telco community, although they had their sights on cable as well. Still, the majority of their affiliate base was small telcos. TVN was very much focused on cable, and big cable at that. The combined company will now serve the largest behemoth cable MSO, all the way down to the smallest telco IPTV cooperative. Should be interesting to watch those two worlds come together.
