TiVo, Meet Captain Obvious
4:30 PM -- Today on Contentinople:
- TiVo has proof of what we already know: Ads work better when they're relevant. Specifically, ads are less likely to be fast-forwarded when they are targeted demographically. The money on that study was well spent, TiVo.
- It looks as if even CDNs aren't immune to the economic downturn. Akamai missed analysts' estimates for the quarter, citing a "challenging environment."
- Mark Cuban nay-says streaming of HD video online. Given that his customers are traditional providers, it makes sense.
- Apple is too trusting of... developers. (Whom did you think -- users?) The downloading of third-party applications from Apple's App Store gives access to iPhone contact lists. Yikes.
And in today's News Bits, Google has some excitement via a lawsuit and adding interactive features to YouTube.
