Time Warner and Sprint Close to Mobile Deal

The Wall Street Journal reported today that Time Warner Cable and Sprint Corp. are close to a inking a deal that would let the MSO offer mobile phone service on a trial basis early in 2005. The arrangement would make Time Warner the first MSO to add mobile communications to their existing triple play of wired voice, video and data services. According to the report, the pact would only cover a small market trial by Time Warner and Sprint in Kansas City, Mo. (now the location of Sprint's corporate headquarters) starting in the first quarter of 2005. Time Warner now has more than 200,000 VoIP customers and is adding an additional 10,000 subscribers per week to the service.
