4:00 PM -- Ahoy! It's Sept. 19 -- are you talking like a pirate? If not, then it's likest ye should be.

Today is International Talk Like a Pirate Day, and sites like Facebook , Google, FriendFeed, and others are all in the holiday spirit, offering options like translating site text into pirate speak (viz., instead of Facebook Friends, I can today peruse "Me Hearties").

But shiver me timbers! There is one lily-livered lass in Granbury, Texas, who's a bit of a landlubber, The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported today:

One person’s spirit symbol is another’s banner of doom, according to Hood County residents involved in an unlikely scrap over black skull-and-crossbones flags intended to rally football fans round the Granbury High School Pirates.

"I’ve started a big stink, evidently, in Granbury," said Nadra Arnold-Curry, who spoke up at a recent Hood County Commissioners Court meeting to register her disapproval of the black flags distributed by the Touchdown Club football boosters. "I appreciate our teams and coaches, too. But I have to stand up for my biblical convictions."

Aye, gentleman (and ladies) o'fortune, today enjoy your grog and dance your hornpipe. But arrrr... be forewarned:

The 39-year Granbury resident branded the flags "satanic" and warned that the city could be risking "the wrath of God" by flaunting them.

But by the powers! Fortune smiled on the buccaneers.

Hood County commissioners listened, then granted the booster club permission to post them on county property.
County property... in HELL!!!
