Spotting TiVo

The marketing behind the Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK)-TiVo Inc. (Nasdaq: TIVO) combo has apparently been kicked up a notch.

Dave Zatz, who runs the ZatzNotFunny blog when he’s not working his day job at Sling Media Inc. , has posted a commercial touting the MSO’s offering in the Boston area.

“So, get your TiVo service now at the lowest price ever!”

Translated, that means an “up-charge” of $2.95 over the MSO’s more “generic” DVR.

And, according to the spot’s call to action, you'll have to be living in the right ZIP code.

So, have at it if all of those stars have aligned. If not, you can still get the TiVo experience by, you know, buying a TiVo. At least you can do that knowing that the “tuning resolver” is inching toward reality. (See CableLabs Issues Tuning Resolver Specs .)
