Broadband connections in the U.S. grew last quarter, according to Akamai Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: AKAM)'s second quarterly "State of the Internet" report.

The report, which examines connectivity trends around the world, provides some unique insight into how many users are connected to the Internet in different regions -- and how fast they're connecting. It also provides data on network security, attack information, and various disruptions of service.

Not much changed from the first-quarter report to the second quarter -- Sweden still leads in unique IPs per capita and South Korea is still tops in high-speed broadband connectivity -- but there are some positive trends for the U.S. in rate of broadband adoption.
