Operator M2M Success Hinges on Flex Pricing

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Flexible pricing will drive M2M business as the total M2M airtime revenue increases nearly threefold in 2016, according to a new report from Pyramid Research.

Operator M2M Success Hinges on Flexible Pricing looks at several operators’ M2M commercial offerings, and analyzes pricing strategies of Tier 1 mobile operators across 14 markets. Pyramid Research presents the case study of U.S.-based MNO AT&T, one of the most successful operators in the M2M sphere, and then takes a look at two additional operators in emerging markets: Movistar Mexico and MTS Russia.

“Pyramid Research believes that M2M pricing will move away from a fixed price to a mixture of flexible and tailor-made tariffs,” says Sylwia Boguszewska, Senior Analyst at Pyramid Research. In addition, operators will introduce a greater degree of price tiering because M2M will serve a larger number of verticals, some of them more data-hungry than others. “In 2016, Pyramid expects total M2M airtime revenue to grow to $7.0 billion, up from $2.2 billion in 2010,” she adds.

Operator M2M Success Hinges on Flexible Pricing is part of Pyramid Research's Telecom Insider Report Series and is priced at $595. Download an excerpt or purchase the report here.
