Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd., ZTE Corp., Infinera Corp. and Interoute Communications Ltd. lead the charge in today's assault on the EMEA headlines.

It looks like the European Commission will try to go ahead with an investigation into Huawei and ZTE's alleged state subsidies, reports Reuters, despite the lack of a formal complaint from European manufacturers. The fear of losing contracts in China is thought to have deterred the likes of Ericsson AB and Alcatel-Lucent from spelling out their grievances to Brussels. Telkom SA Ltd., the South African fixed-line operator, has agreed to pay a 449 million rand (US$49 million) fine imposed on it by regulators for anti-competitive behavior, reports Reuters.

First-quarter revenues at Ziggo B.V., the Netherlands' largest cable operator, inched up just 0.2 percent year-on-year to €387.8 million($510.1 million). Some analysts believe Ziggo is a potential takeover target for Liberty Global Inc., which already holds a 12.65 percent stake in the operator.
