  • Vodafone is ready to start talks about the sale of its £7 billion (US$10.8 billion) stake in French carrier SFR to Vivendi , reports UK newspaper The Daily Mail. (See Vodafone Updates Strategy, Profit Outlook and Will Vodafone Bid SFR Adieu?)

  • Pan-European business services specialist COLT has appointed Mark Ferrari as its new CFO, with effect from March 31. The appointment is one of a number of corporate changes at COLT, which will have a new organizational structure from January 1. (See Colt Names Senior Exec and Colt to Simplify Organization.

  • Skype's CIO has published a "post-mortem" on the outage that hit the peer-to-peer (P2P) communications specialist last week. (See Downtime Hits Skype.)

  • Eutelsat Communications S.A. has launched a satellite that, the company says, has the capacity to provide broadband connections to 1 million European homes at "speeds comparable to ADSL."
