With Europe still on post-Christmas shutdown, there’s little in the way of telecom-sector activity. But the market’s not totally quiet, as German giant Deutsche Telekom AG (NYSE: DT) has cost-cutting plans for its Greek operations, while something’s stirring in the undersea tunnel that connects France to the U.K.

  • European giant Deutsche Telekom is looking to cut wages and jobs at Greek national operator OTE S.A. , in which it holds a controlling stake, according to ADP News, citing The Financial Times Deutschland. (See DT Secures OTE Stake and Deutsche Telekom to Buy OTE Stake.)

  • British and French mobile operators are teaming up to provide mobile phone coverage in the Channel Tunnel, with Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU) set to install the requisite technology, reports The Daily Telegraph.
