Don Smith Named Mitel Networks CEO
"We’re thrilled to have Don head our management team,” said Terry Matthews, Mitel Networks chairman. "Don’s track record, strategic vision, and knowledge of communications and broadband solutions are invaluable to our success as we continue to establish a leadership position in this rapidly developing market for converged solutions targeted at real-world business needs."
Mitel Networks was created in February 2001 after Mitel Corporation sold its Communications Systems division to Matthews in a deal valued at $350 M CDN. Under the direction of Mitel Networks chief operating officer Paul Butcher, the company has been actively developing partnerships with key market leaders and market makers including Hewlett Packard, Ericsson, Symbol Technologies and Nuance as well as Matthews’ broadband IP applications start-up, March Networks. Butcher is continuing in his current role reporting to Smith.
