CTIA 2009: RIM's BB App Flap
2:10 PM -- With today's unveiling of the BlackBerry App World mobile store you might have expected some more red fruit to chew on at BlackBerry CEO Mike Lazaridis's keynote on the opening day of the CTIA show.
Instead, we got a 10-minute talk on how tight BlackBerry is with mobile music, which was a bit like being lectured on what's hip by your dad, if your dad happened to sponsor the latest U2 tour and had an uncomfortably insincere video message from The Edge and Bono to prove it.
This was followed by a 10-minute advertisement (pretty much) for the app store. "Lance Armstrong’s first ever mobile application -- Live Strong -- is being launched on App World," Lazaridis actually boasted at some point. Personally, Unstrung is holding out for the first Stretch Armstrong mobile app and will accept no substitutes.
