BrightLink Trims Workforce

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- BrightLink Networks, a start-up manufacturer of optical switching systems for the telecommunications industry, today announced a 27% reduction in its workforce in response to the current economic slowdown.

"The continuing slowdown of the economy has severely limited the amount of funding available for start-up companies such as BrightLink" said Harry Quackenboss, chief executive officer of BrightLink. "However, BrightLink is building a product that is still in very high demand by the market, and BrightLink still has strong support of the board and investors."

BrightLink still has capital on hand and access to additional capital from current investors. To ensure sufficient capital to complete execution of BrightLink's business plan, BrightLink is taking the steps necessary to conserve cash. BrightLink will close the BrightLink Texas Development Center in addition to staff reductions.
