A Night of Leading Lights

Light Reading's Leading Lights Awards program was a success on several levels. It raised the bar -- and emptied the wine cellar -- of telecom industry awards.

The numbers tell the story:

  • There were 11 awards categories for public and private companies (see LR Names Leading Lights).
  • Light Reading received more than 325 award nominations in total (see Leading Lights Awards Finalists).
  • The finalists were selected by 15 editors and analysts from Light Reading's network of Websites and research products (see LR Reveals Leading Lights Winners).
  • More than 121 bottles of wine were consumed during the hour-long wine tasting and the following dinner.

The stats are simply staggering. And, quite frankly, so were the attendees after drinking all that wine.

There was also a Light Reading first, as introduced by CEO Stephen Saunders. The Light Reading Corporate Video kicked off the evening's festivities and set the tone for a night of big time celebration with the industry's biggest names.

And, of course, we took a few photos, too.

re: A Night of Leading Lights I loved the video!
In particular the rip offs of the Bob Dylan video and Sopranos intro.

re: A Night of Leading Lights I saw signs of the economy definitely picking up from these nice pics, din't I? Maybe we we are heading back to year2000...

My morale has been boosted tremendously, even without being treated to a wine and cheese reception when I walked past the lobby this morning.
