Wireless Power

5:00 PM -- Pretty interesting article in today's New Scientist on pushing electricity through the air.

Researchers at MIT now say "they can now send substantial amounts of power -- enough to light a 60-watt bulb -- across a room by magnetic induction between two devices tuned to resonate with each other."

Commercializing this capability would obviously be big news in the wireless world. Cellphones, laptops, and iPods wouldn't be tied to mains power in the home and possibly could even be recharged through the air in airports, hotels, and other places where the wireless throngs congregate.
