SIA Sees Wireless Chip Growth

The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) says that the modest growth in global chip sales in April was driven by increasing sales in the wireless sector, although the U.S. trade body does not detail exactly how much that sector helped the sales hike. Increased chip sales in a sector are seen as one of the first steps on the road to recovery. Sales were $11.07 billion in April, a 3.1 percent increase from the $10.73 billion level reached in March. Japan and Asia-Pacific showed the strongest growth.
