Zitter Rebrands DRM

5:30 PM -- I love rebranding; the more it resembles Orwellian doublespeak the better. (Food security? Love it!) So obviously, I think HBO CTO Bob Zitter's simpering request that Digital Rights Management (a reasonable and neutral term) be replaced with "Digital Consumer Enablement," is doublespeak at its finest.

Zitter also whined that the FCC will not allow HBO to disable the analog outputs on set-up boxes. If they did, he says, HBO could offer HD content on-demand through secure digital routes and not worry about piracy fueled by analog outputs. Given that HDTV penetration is only at 28 percent, how is that good business?
