Writers? Who Needs 'em?

3:45 PM -- The New York Times oraculates (if you'll pardon the expression) that the striking television writers may find that the networks can do quite well without them, thank you very much.

It seems viewers are perfectly content to stupify their countenances watching “Wife Swap,” “Celebrity Rehab,” and “Dancing With the Has-Beens” -- "Reality" (odd name) shows that require no scrivenly input:

“ 'American Gladiators'... finished with about 60 percent higher ratings than the drama 'Chuck,' which had occupied the same time period before the strike."

Shocking that the finely nuanced prose of Chuck is being beaten out by bodacious babes battling with giant Q-tips®. But might the same fate befall such timeless classics of Shakespearean Splendour as Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, and CSI: Boise?

O Tempora! O Mores!

And has the writers' strike affected the WWE?
