Verizon Targets CDN Partners

It wasn't long ago that Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) began offering content delivery services directly to media companies, promising a more direct route to its broadband subscribers. Now, the broadband service provider is making a similar pitch to CDNs that have those media companies as customers.

Verizon launched a new program today aimed at getting CDN companies to connect directly to its network. Dubbed the Verizon Partner Port Program, the initiative provides steep discounts to CDNs that plug into Verizon's IP backbone.
