Top Ten Private Companies Revisited

After some heated arguments, much tinkering, and a barrage of feedback from readers and attendees of Opticon and Lightspeed Europe, Light Reading editors today published a revised list of its Top Ten Private Companies.

Last published in June of 2001, the list was in dire need of an overhaul. Introducing potential lists at Light Reading's conference events allowed attendees to influence the decision of editors with real live feedback.

If fact, the list, as published today, is substantially different from the one presented at the Lightspeed conference held in London two weeks ago. What's changed? If you weren't there, you may never know.

The new Top Ten Private Companies list is published here.

OK, thanks, I can accept that it is more than just a rumor, but if the deal is not closed, as you say, how confident are you that the deal will close, money will change hands and hardware will be installed?

Thats what really counts.

$51million / 19 months = ~2.7million/month.

Sounds about right.

re: Top Ten Private Companies Revisited The 2nd round of $51m in 5/2000 is probably all but gone. They must be looking for the 3rd round now.

According to Lightreading, Equipe had valuation of $400m at 2nd round in 5/00. Wonder how down the investors will go for the next round.
