Swimming With Hammerhead

3:05 PM -- It's been an unusually quiet year for Hammerhead Systems Inc. , the multiservice aggregation vendor. But VP of marketing Rob Keil tells us the company is alive and well.

Hammerhead has yet to announce any of its customers. But the count is up to four, Keil says:

  • A Tier 1 with a global footprint
  • A Tier 2, again with a global footprint
  • A nationwide Tier 2 provider (not saying which nation)
  • A regional Tier 2 provider
It's also got five trials underway on various continents.

There's been evidence that the Tier 1 is Verizon Enterprise Solutions . (See Has Hammerhead Nailed Verizon?) Hammerhead ain't saying.

Keil is more keen to discuss Hammerhead's role in the European Advanced Networking Test Center AG (EANTC) demo at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress this week. The company's HSX 6000 is being used as a conduit between MPLS and Provider Backbone Transport (PBT) Ethernet, showing how multicast IPTV traffic can be reconciled with a non-multicast-enabled PBT network.
