“The SA Forum is continuing to grow with the addition of new members and the release of mature specifications. The new systems management interfaces, in addition to the updated Hardware Platform Interface and Application Interface Specifications, makes a complete set of backward compatible specifications,” said Tim Kober, president of the SA Forum. “With a complete set of specifications now available, we expect to see many more SA Forum products in 2006. We also welcome new members to help continue development of a new software management interface.”
SA Forum members released products throughout 2005 that implemented the SA Forum specifications. The organization expects to see many more implementations in 2006 as members implement the new specifications and industry groups such as SCOPE, an industry alliance of network equipment providers, create profiles based on SA Forum groundwork.
“The SA Forum specifications enable the industry to build high availability network infrastructure products, systems and services,” said Timo Jokiaho, chairman of SCOPE. “SCOPE plans to establish profiles based upon standards organizations specifications in order to accelerate the development of carrier-grade base platforms. The SA Forum is a crucial element of this equation.”
