Future of Web Ads
5:30 PM -- Today on Contentinople, IDC makes a big prediction on the future of Internet ad spending:
- Web spending may be getting bigger, but print and TV can still beat it up, says IDC's latest report. According to the research firm, marketers will still be spending $30 billion more on direct mail advertising than on Web ads in 2011.
- Beet.tv presents some insights from Vint Cerf, "Father of the Internet" -- including that Internet companies should consider using a broadcast model to distribute the most popular videos throughout the Net.
- Ever wish you could watch that video of a dog skateboarding from the comfort of your living room sofa? ActiveVideo says it's releasing the first platform that will bring Web-based content to any network-connected device -- set-top boxes, connected TVs, game consoles, etc.
- Sure, AT&T is kind of a big deal in the consumer and business markets. But will that translate to success in the CDN market? Some say no because, well, despite the company's latest $70 million push into the market, it's not exactly a newcomer.
And in today's News Bits section: Twitter's latest funding round brought in $15 million... we think.
