Cablevision Unveils New Online Security Tools

Alan Breznick

As a holiday present, Cablevision Systems is looking to make its broadband subscribers feel more secure about going online. Cablevision announced earlier today that it has started offering a new suite of online security tools to its 1.25 million cable modem customers at no extra charge. Optimum Online subscribers can download antivirus, firewall and parental control software from Computer Associates International on the OptOnline.Net consumer portal. Cablevision estimates that these advanced security tools have a combined retail value of nearly $50. The MSO has been offering firewall and antivirus security software to its customers at a discount since March 2002.
