Blockbuster's New Plan

5:20 PM -- Today on Contentinople:

  • In the second quarter, Blockbuster plans to launch a pilot program that will allow customers of a monthly subscription plan to rent both movies and video games online. The catch: The games and movies will be delivered through old-fashioned snail mail.

  • A recent piece in The New Yorker reveals that film marketers feel like they have more control over hype, and more of a sense of how well a film will do, because of interactive advertising.

  • Online news-clipping company 1Cast has announced new content partners -- Associated Press, AFP, CBC, CNBC, and Reuters -- and a brand-new Android application.

And in today's News Bits, Twitter backtracks on the revenue strategy it discussed yesterday, while the Twitterers around the world prepare for tonight's Twitter awards ceremony in New York.
