ATCA/Standard Servers

Celestica Intros Accelerator

TORONTO -- Celestica (NYSE, TSX: CLS), a world leader in electronics manufacturing services (EMS), today introduced its first Advanced Telecommunications Computing Architecture (AdvancedTCA) Solutions Accelerator in the company's Communications Platforms roadmap. The AdvancedTCA AMC processor and carrier card, Bell Bay, will provide original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the computing and communications sectors with an easily customizable solution to shrink their product design cycle and achieve full lifecycle solutions at the lowest total cost and fastest time-to-market.

AdvancedTCA or ATCA (including microTCA) is an open industry standard for computer processor blades, i/o blades, communication blades and chassis that are optimized for carrier-grade telecommunications, enterprise communication, and mission critical applications. Targeted at customers in the computing and communications infrastructure sectors, the 10GB Ethernet AdvancedTCA AMC Carrier provides telecommunications companies with a creative solution to shrink product design cycles and achieve full product lifecycle solutions at the lowest total cost and fastest time-to-market.

Bell Bay is a non-productized, pre-engineered and pre-developed ATCA platform solution that does not compete with customers' intellectual property or market position. Bell Bay leverages Celestica's depth and breadth of knowledge and expertise in design, engineering and manufacturing for the telecommunications sector. Based on existing Celestica designs, the solution accelerator development model customizes designs and services to meet customers' market-specific needs.

"AdvancedTCA is delivering considerable benefits to telecom equipment manufacturers, including significant cost reductions in hardware development," said Paul Barsley, Vice President, Design and Engineering Services, Celestica. "An extension of our design services, Celestica's AdvancedTCA and roadmapped MicroTCA offering in WiMAX will cut customers' development costs and schedules."
