Alloptic, NEC Team on VDSL2

LIVERMORE, Calif. -- Alloptic, a global leader in the development of passive optical networking (PON) solutions for CATV, telecom, and private network operators worldwide, today announced that they have partnered with industry leader, NEC Magnus Communications to develop a GE-PON VDSL2 ONT. Alloptic's Xgen7500 ONT supports 24 VDSL2 ports to provide up to 100Mbps bandwidth for both uplink and downlink. It is fully compliant with ITU-T G.993.2 VDSL2 standards.

"We are finding growing demand for brownfield PON solutions," said Shane Eleniak, VP of Marketing and Business Development for Alloptic. "Unlike greenfield deployments, brownfields offer a unique challenge as the cost of replacing the network infrastructure can be cost-prohibitive. With the Xgen7500's VDSL2 technology, our customers have a solution for both MDU applications and Fiber-to-the-Curb or Fiber-to-the-Node deployments. They can now speed up installations and avoid unnecessary expense by using the existing copper cabling. We selected NEC Magnus Communications as our partner because of their extensive and superior experience developing DSL products as the market leader in Japan."
