Even though it faces a likely corporate breakup soon, Adelphia Communications is still trying to play catchup ball with other major broadband providers. Earlier today Adelphia announced the launch of the first two premium subscription services for its 1.4 million cable modem customers, following in the footsteps of other MSOs and the leading RBOCs.
The first premium service, Adelphia Music, will offer access to more than 1.5 million music tracks for $7.95 a month. Powered by MusicNet, the service will also deliver music videos and editorial play lists and allow subscribers to buy song titles.
The second service, Adelphia NetPak, will serve up Major League Baseball video and audio coverage, online games, CNN news video clips, weather video forecasts, educational games, research tools, online greeting cards and other features for $9.95 a month. Synacor is handling the integration of both premium content services for Adelphia.
