Wave7 Optics appoints Al Purdy to new position of vice president of international sales to oversee company's expansion

,P>ALPHARETTA, Ga. -- Wave7 Optics today announced the appointment of Al Purdy for the newly created position of Vice President, International Sales. Mr. Purdy has more than twenty years of experience in worldwide telecommunications and data communications industries, including senior executive and sales positions at successful start ups such as Tut Systems and Applied Digital Access.

He also has served as a consultant specializing in international sales and marketing to help U.S.-based start up companies break into world markets. Mr. Purdy also has sales, marketing, operations and product management experience from AT&T and Pacific Telesis. He has a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Rutgers University and an MBA degree from Rider University.

“We are glad to have Al on board as he has extensive optical access experience and he can help us maximize our relationship with Hitachi in Japan and Korea and with our network of international partners – those we have in place now, such as Teleste, and others we’ll add in the future,” said Tom Tighe, CEO of Wave7 Optics. “We recently announced our first customer outside the U.S. – in Mexico – and we will announce soon a customer in Australia.”

“Wave7 has established itself as a leader in the fiber optic access market in North America and I look forward to making that happen worldwide,” said Purdy. “The Last Mile Link system now has more than two dozen customers in the U.S. ILEC, CLEC, MSO, utility-owned network, and municipality sectors and I think we can duplicate that success outside the U.S.”
