8:00 AM -- Global mobile data bandwidth usage increased 68 percent in the first half of 2010, according to Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) vendor Allot Ltd. (Nasdaq: ALLT)'s MobileTrends Report detailing 190 million subscribers' activity across mobile networks.
Video streaming was the fastest-growing application, showing a 92 percent increase in the first half of the year. It was the single largest app worldwide.
Thanks to awesome videos like this and this, YouTube Inc. remained one of the single most important Websites, accounting for 13 percent of global mobile data bandwidth, Allot says.
Some other interesting tidbits that surely have the carriers reeling:
Facebook , by far The Social Network to beat, grew by 200 percent.
VoIP and IM, the second fastest growing mobile apps, grew by 84 percent, while Skype Ltd. accounted for 83 percent of the global mobile VoIP bandwidth.
Twitter Inc. jumped 310 percent in global mobile data bandwidth share.
