COLUMBIA, Md. -- Optical networking start-up, Trellis Photonics,
today said it will close its US headquarters here effective immediately.
The company manufactures products based on its award-winning
Electroholography(tm) technology, an all-optical switching technology used
in high-speed, high-capacity fiber optic networks.
Company President, Elon Littwitz, said "Current market conditions,
including the slowdown in capital expenditure for emerging technologies, and
the delay in a viable market for all-optical switching, require that we

The closing affects the company's sales and marketing organizations
at its Columbia facility. Littwitz said Trellis will maintain a limited US
presence through a small business development and marketing staff.
