Sycamore expands its presence in Asia with new offices in Seoul and Beijing

CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Sycamore Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCMR - News), a leader in intelligent optical networking, today announced that it has opened a branch office in Seoul, South Korea. The Company said that it will also open a branch office in Beijing, China. The new offices will enable the Company to deliver increased support to its Asia-based customers, prospects, and partners.

"These expanded bases of operation will enhance our ability to respond to the needs of our local customer base, capitalize on opportunities we see in the region, and support and complement the extensive presence and sales efforts of our strategic partners," said Daniel E. Smith, president and chief executive officer. "As these markets experience growth in demand for broadband services, we believe our intelligent optical switching solutions will enable Asian carriers to more efficiently provision, manage, and scale service capacity at the optical layer."

The new offices in Seoul and Beijing build upon the Company's established presence in Tokyo, Japan, and will be staffed with experienced sales and technical resources. Sycamore's customers in the region include NTT Communications in Japan and KT Corp. in South Korea.
