PALM BAY, Fla. -- Stratos Lightwave Inc. (Nasdaq: STLW) is introducing a new family of high- density stackable Small Form Factor (SFF) optical transceivers for Gigabit Ethernet or Fibre Channel applications. These transceivers, the D21 Series, are the only IEEE 802.3z and ANSI X3.297 compliant stackable optical transceivers on the market today, and Stratos is the world's first manufacturer to offer Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel transceivers in such compact packaging. Stratos Lightwave's new transceivers are ideal for next generation Metropolitan Area Networking (MAN), Storage Area Networking (SAN) and Local Area Networking (LAN) equipment applications, where maximum board density is needed. These innovative products use multi-die hybrid technology to integrate a dual optical transceiver into a package featuring an industry-standard, MSA- compliant 2 x 10 footprint. They have industry-standard LC interfaces, and a package height of only 0.75 inches (19.1mm). The Stratos D21 Series of transceivers will enable OEM customers to design network equipment with doubled port density, while maintaining the traditional levels of performance and reliability required for Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel systems. All Stratos Gigabit Ethernet transceivers comply with IEEE 802.3z, and the Fibre Channel transceivers comply with ANSI X3.297. These stackable SFF transceivers exhibit exceptionally low levels of jitter over the full Bellcore/Telcordia operating temperature range of -40 degrees to +85 degrees C. This enables their use in rough service industrial or outdoor applications such as FTTH, EPON and POS. The D21 Series of stackable transceiver are available with 850nm VCSELs, for multimode optical fiber applications with link distances up to 550 meters. Stratos Lightwave Inc.
