LAS VEGAS -- BitGravity, Inc., the pioneer in Content Delivery Networks (CDN) for interactive broadcasting, today announced BG Secure, a suite of products that offers Internet media properties the ability to protect their copyrighted content from the growing number of pirating technologies without disruption to the customer experience.

Technologies that enable users to copy video from the Internet without permission have become readily available, making it impossible for media companies to prevent the volume of illicit material posted on Web sites. Both progressive downloads and streaming media are susceptible to pirating with tools that are free on the Internet and require a single click of the mouse to copy content. Ripper technologies either tap into the stream and simply divert it or pull the content from the cache.

“Current downloading standards used across the media and broadcast industries have actually aided content pirates, because when you have a standard protocol, there’s only one code to crack,” said Barrett Lyon, CTO and co-founder of BitGravity. “Now in this escalating ‘arms-race’ between pirating technologies and the content distributors trying to protect their intellectual property, the pirates have cracked that code and are winning.”
