Proximion DCM Targets Ultra Long Haul

KISTA, Sweden -- Proximion AB, a world-class provider of Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) based dispersion compensation modules (DCMs), today announced the launch of the DCM-HDC, the latest addition to its continuous band dispersion compensation product line. The DCM-HDC is a high-end passive dispersion compensator with extraordinary optical performance. It is targeted for use in Ultra Long-Haul (ULH) coherent detection links. “The DCM-HDC is the clear market leader with very low losses, less than 3.5 dB per module, thus allowing 150,000 ps/nm compensation with less than 55 dB of loss in a flexi-grid band. The insertion loss is approximately 50% of competing FBG-based solutions and 10% of DCF-based solutions. ”By compensating large amount of dispersion, up to 10,000 ps/nm per module, at extremely low loss, the DCM-HDC significantly extends the reach of long haul high speed transmission systems.
