SHELTON, Conn. -- TranSwitch® Corporation (NASDAQ: TXCC) today announced that SAGEM SA, a supplier of electronics equipment for the commercial communications and defense industries headquartered in Paris, France, will use the EtherMap®-3 Plus Ethernet-over-SDH (EoS) mapper in SAGEM’s STM-1/ 4 next generation (NG) SDH multi-service ADR 155C.

A key element of the SAGEM ADR 155C architecture, EtherMap-3 Plus is an enhanced version of TranSwitch’s highly successful EtherMap-3 device. These VLSI products support the requirements of next-generation access systems by offering greater functional integration and flexibility than any comparable solution on the market today. The use of EtherMap-3 Plus enables the SAGEM ADR 155C to combine a broad range of access and bandwidth management functions into a single scalable, modular platform.

TranSwitch collaborated closely with SAGEM to incorporate the EtherMap-3 Plus into the SAGEM ADR 155C platform during system development and application testing, which centered on verification of hardware features and integration testing. TranSwitch’s extensive system design and applications support enabled SAGEM to optimize the equipment performance for specific Ethernet traffic parameters, including Generic Framing Procedure (GFP) and Link Capacity Adjustment Scheme (LCAS).

“TranSwitch’s EtherMap-3 Plus was crucial to the development of the SAGEM ADR 155C multiplexer. The device’s GFP, Virtual Concatenation (VCAT) and LCAS features greatly expanded the SAGEM ADR 155C EoS provisioning and protection capabilities, enabling our customers to optimize bandwidth utilization, achieve better service efficiency, and boost profitability from their existing SDH infrastructure. Partnering with TranSwitch’s world-class customer engineering team, we were able to accelerate our time-to-market and increase the functionality of the SAGEM ADR 155C platform, differentiating it from the competition,“ said Patrick Sevian, Senior VP, Managing Director, Networks Division at SAGEM. “Low or high order Virtually Concatenated traffic, consisting of prioritized Ethernet/Virtual LAN (VLAN) traffic encapsulated in GFP, is fast becoming the premier EoS transport service. TranSwitch’s complete EoS solution allows us to offer this high value service capability, enabling us to rapidly grow our share of the Ethernet-over-SDH access market,” he concluded.
