DUBLIN -- Silicon & Software Systems (S3) today announced an ATM solution for IBM's PowerNP™ Network Processor Family. Version 1.0 of this solution, available now, supports AAL2, AAL5, OAM and Traffic Management on the IBM NP4GS3 Network Processor. This ATM solution, combined with the performance and flexibility of the IBM NP4GS3 Network Processor, gives ATM Network Equipment vendors significant time-to-market and functionality advantages. S3's ATM Network Processor solution, approved for the "Ready for IBM Technology" mark, gives OC12 level ATM performance on the NP4GS3 while providing significant headroom for customer applications. Delivered as a highly optimized fastpath extension to IBM's PowerNP™ Advanced Software Offering (ASO), the solution offers a standard ASO interface for ATM, giving control point access to configure the underlying ATM tables. S3 can deliver production-ready ATM subsystems based on this solution via its Network Processing Solutions Center. "Our active working relationship with IBM’s engineering divisions enables us to offer specialized solutions to the Network Infrastructure market" said Jim O’Donoghue, G.M. of S3's Communications Infrastructure Business Unit. "This, our fourth solution to carry the 'Ready for IBM Technology' mark, has been fully integrated with the IBM PowerNP™ Advanced Software Offering (ASO) giving flexible OS, control plane integration and industry standard API support."Silicon & Software Systems Ltd.
