Telepark Passau is using Keymile's multiservice IP DSLAM MileGate for broadband Ethernet services
October 5, 2007
HANOVER, Germany -- Telepark Passau is using KEYMILE's Multi-Service IP-DSLAM MileGate so that it can offer broadband Ethernet services in its fibreglass network. As a result, business customers such as the Sparkasse Passau will be connected to Telepark's high-speed network.
The regional carrier, Telepark Passau (TPP), operates a telecommunications network in Passau based on state-of-the-art technology. With a 130 km long fibreglass cable network, 280 km copper cable network and network connections to national and international network operators, TPP supplies business customers with telephone connections, Internet access, firewall and VPN solutions in the urban and some of the surrounding district. The access technology required is installed in TPP's main distributors in Passau town and some areas in the surrounding district. Since spring 2007, TPP has been updating and extending its existing structure, which is based on active optical components, with MileGate from KEYMILE - a leading manufacturer and supplier for Next-Generation access networks with integrated network management. MileGate 2500, the new access node, combines interfaces for ultra high-speed Internet and for telephone and data services.
MileGate, the Next-Generation-Access platform will gradually supplement the existing HYTAS installations in TPP's fibreglass network and above all be used in the future when connecting business and industrial parks. Back in spring this year, TPP installed a MileGate 2500 in a new industrial park to supply business customers with broadband Ethernet services (data, voice, video.) In May, TPP started setting up a total of 10 MileGates to connect the Sparkasse in Passau with its head office. Initially these Multi-Service IP-DSLAMs will be equipped with business DSL interfaces. KEYMILE's network management system UNEM will then be installed on the customer's own server.
Optical Ethernet cards are inserted in MileGate which transform the system into an ideal platform for all areas of FTTx-provisioning (fibre to the node/building/home).
"Due to long-standing business relationships we know and rate KEYMILE highly. KEYMILE provides advanced technology, very good value and excellent service", are the reasons Thomas Greiner, CEO of Telepark Passau, gives for choosing MileGate. "As a German-based company, KEYMILE is close to its customers and can therefore offer us excellent technical support."
