ROCHESTER, Minn. -- PEMSTAR Inc. (Nasdaq: PMTR), a leading provider of global engineering, manufacturing and fulfillment services to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), together with Cirrex Corp., a leading developer of integrated opto-electronic hybrid subsystems, today announced that the two companies will partner to manufacture Cirrex’s OCHIPTM (Optical Communication Hybrid Integration Platform), a revolutionary line of OADM and transceiver modules. The OCHIP products combine active and passive optics and electronics into a single compact package using miniaturized planar lightguide circuitry (PLC). The integrated modules eliminate free space between components, thus reducing the size and enabling significant cost savings over current technologies. The partnership is focused on expanding Cirrex’s current prototype assembly process into a full volume manufacturing assembly process. Cirrex and PEMSTAR will jointly develop the various manufacturing processes, including optical coupling and attachment, laser attachment, hybrid board assembly, hermetic sealing and testing. “Cirrex stands out as one of the few companies whose optical products are optimized for low cost manufacturing,” said Susan Scanlon, Director of New Product Introduction. “They solved major manufacturing concerns through complex integration of optics engineering and electronics packaging. Cirrex’s mode adaption structure eliminates the need for lensing in optics assembly, significantly reducing the time required to complete the critical laser alignment.”Cirrex Corp.Pemstar Inc.
