HAMBURG -- Pandatel AG, Hamburg, formed its own development company, Pandatel Ltd. in Kfar Saba, Israel, in August 2003. The new company is a 100 per cent subsidiary of Pandatel AG. Pandatel Ltd. appointed Elroi Marom Managing Director. Elroi Marom was Director for Access Equipment at the Israeli company Native Networks Ltd. where he was responsible for the development of optical multiplexers, devices to increase data transfer rates in fiber-optic networks. As SDH/SONET* Competence Center, Pandatel Ltd. will focus on the development of technologies and products for conventional optical networks based on the SDH/SONET protocol; all activities are managed from the Hamburg headquarters.

Jürgen Schröder, Director of Product Development at Pandatel AG, is confident that the development performance of Pandatel can be increased significantly due to the new location: "We aim to offer our customers cost-effective, flexible products at an attractive price. We found perfect conditions in Israel: an innovative environment and highly qualified employees." Concentrating on one technology is to guarantee especially short development times.

The development team in Israel is presently working on a modular multiplexer to transfer voice and data in parallel over SDH networks, based on Pandatel's successful multiplexer S-MUX 155. The new device is to be launched midyear 2004. At the same time Pandatel Ltd. continues to be in charge of the S?MUX 155 multiplexer.
