WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., -- Optical Communication Products Inc (Nasdaq: OCPI), a manufacturer of fiber optic subsystems and modules for metropolitan area, local area and storage area networks, today announced the availability of its 10-Gigabit Ethernet SFP+ transceivers to support 10km high-density, metropolitan area networking (MAN) applications.

"The low power consumption of our SFP+ 10km module is an enabler for network designers to increase port capacities of 10G switches from existing larger form factors," said Gurpinder Matharu, Product Line Manager.

OCP's "SPXG" product line is compliant with the SFP+ MSA electrical (SFF-8431) and mechanical (SFF-8432) requirements to support 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel applications.

The SFP+ transceiver integrates a 1310nm single mode distributed feedback laser (DFB) in an LC package and PIN receiver, satisfying the Class I Laser Safety Requirements in accordance with the US FDA/CDRH and international IE-60825 standards.

The modules are designed for multi-rate applications, supporting data rates up to 11.3Gb/s. The DDM functionality adheres to the SFP+ MSA, enabling the end-user to monitor key areas in the performance of the SFP+ transceiver: internal temperature, DC supply voltage, transmitter bias current, transmitter output power, and receive optical signal power. Integrated DDM functionality also incorporates warnings and alarms to monitor these parameters.
