ECI Telecom presents the results of successful demonstration of 43-Gbit/s transmission over 1,000 kilometers at OFC
March 28, 2007
PETAH TIKVA, Israel -- ECI Telecom (NASDAQ: ECIL) ), a global provider of networking infrastructure equipment, will be speaking at OFC/NFOEC 2007 in Anaheim, California on March 28th, 2007. The topic that will be presented is the results of the industry's first successful demonstration of 43 Gb/s transmission over 1,000 km via a 10-Degree 50 GHz-channel-spaced WSS ROADM.
As IP traffic continues to grow due to demand for bandwidth-intensive business data and triple-play services, carriers are driven to increase the capacity of their IP core and DWDM networks by increasing the router line speeds and the subsequent DWDM signals from 10 Gb/s to 40 Gb/s. There are challenges, however, to performance of transmission over long distances and compatibility issues with 50 GHz-spaced filters. In this poster presentation, the audience will learn how these challenges were overcome through the use of specific bandwidth-tolerant modulation formats that enabled a successful demonstration of 43 Gb/s transmission.
