PETACH-TIKVA, Israel -- After successful technical demonstrations to several US customers, Civcom Inc., inventor and provider of multi-function free-space technology solutions for next-generation optical networks, today announced the availability of samples of its Free 1x2 all-optical switches, utilizing Civcom’s recently announced SFSä (Solid Free Space) technology.Jacob Vertman, VP of Marketing and Business Development, states: “As a result of the recent successes of the technical demonstrations, several of the customers indicated a desire to test the new switches for possible use in their products. These customers range from large mainstream telecommunications equipment manufacturers, to start-ups developing next-generation all-optical switching systems.”Civcom's SFS technology, based on free space propagation (FSP) and polarization encoding of optical signals, enables ultra-fast, polarization independent, strictly non-blocking switching in a compact package. Moreover, having no moving parts Civcom's switch is stable and reliable while exhibiting very low loss, reducing the need for expensive amplifiers.Civcom Inc.
