MetroNet rolls out ADVA's FSP 3000 scalable metro DWDM system in Mexico

MARTINSRIED/MUNICH, Germany and RAMSEY, N.J. -- ADVA Optical Networking (German Neuer Markt: ADV), a leading global providerof optical networking solutions, today announced that MetroNet, a Mexicanfacilities-based "carrier's carrier", has selected its Fiber ServicePlatform (FSP) metro optical networking platform for metro services.MetroNet has already begun the deployment of ADVA's FSP 3000 at multiplesites in Mexico City since January 2002. It plans to use this platform tooffer a variety of high-speed data services to its customers in Mexico City,Guadalajara, and Monterrey.ADVA successfully competed against ten DWDM vendors and met MetroNet'sdemanding requirements and rigorous testing. MetroNet operates ahigh-bandwidth local telecommunication network across the three largestcities in Mexico, representing 80% of the country's telecommunicationsmarket. MetroNet provides the rapid interconnection between Carriers and endcustomers at a reduced initial cost."Our aim is to expand our portfolio of service offerings to includehigh-bandwidth data services.
