NKT Integration announces the opening of two subsidiaries in North America. The Montreal subsidiary has been established to provide design, packaging and test of Integrated Planar Lightwave Circuits, whereas the Chicago subsidiary has been established to strengthen the sales and support to the North America customer base. NKT Integration, provider of world class foundry services and advanced integrated photonic solutions, has strengthened its presence in the market place by establishing a Design, Packaging and Test facility of its Integrated Planar Lightwave Circuits in Montreal and by establishing a local sales office in Chicago. The Design, Packaging and Test facility in Montreal, which is now in operation and in the final phase of Telcordia qualifying products, provides customers with access to high quality component packaging capabilities. The packaging technology is of state-of-the-art quality and tailor made to the Integrated Planar Lightwave Circuit Technology. This ensures maximum reliability, fast turn around time and a right-first-time approach.NKT Integration has developed from a pure Planar Lightwave Circuit wafer foundry to also being capable of providing Design, Packaging and Test Services for Integrated Optical Components manufacturing. These enhanced services have increased the need for an even higher support level to the customer base. The establishment of a Sales and Applications office in Chicago will ensure the highest level of customer support and maximize NKT Integration’s profile in the North American market place."NKT Integration is excited to present these new capabilities, services and support to our customer base. Over the last couple of years, our industry has seen one long period of consolidation and as a consequence many of our customers are today more focused on outsourcing of services and expect us to deliver more services and more integration at an even higher efficiency level. Our two new subsidiaries will provide this”, indicates Lars Ronn, CEO of NKT Integration. This view point is shared by Xavier Clairardin, President of NKT Integration’s North America Operations, who adds; “Solutions based on Integrated Planar Lightwave Circuits will inevitably gain more and more market share due to its cost efficiency and multi-functionality capabilities. Once our industry returns to a normal mode of operation this will be clear to every body".
