TORONTO -- MERA Systems, a forefront supplier of intelligent carrier-grade VoIP solutions, is pleased to report strong performance results for 2004. Over the year, MERA increased the number of deployments by 100%, expanded the sales reach, and released two brand new VoIP products. In the past year, MERA doubled the number of customers – as of today, it has above 300 deployments spanning over 40 countries of the world.

The North American market yielded the biggest profit in 2004. Most notable MERA Session Controller installations were accomplished by Maximus Telecom, Skyytel, United Digital, and Aerocall. In Europe, MERA’s success map now features a number of large national VoIP carriers: Info-Tel Communication (Italy), GTS Datanet (Hungary), Spectrum Net (Bulgaria), and many others.

Another milestone of the past year was MERA’s breakthrough in the emerging VoIP markets of Central Asia and Middle East. With a number of important deals in Uzbekistan, Turkey, and other countries MERA has virtually pioneered the Asian VoIP industry.

Furthermore, MERA has released two new products, MERA VoIPal Session Border Controller and MERA SIPrise VoIP-based Service Creation Platform.

"We report excellent results this year", comments Konstantin Nikashov, CEO for MERA Systems. "Striving for continuous product improvement, we have strengthened the SIP capabilities of the MERA Session Controller and released a fully distributed session controller that scales up to 40,000 concurrent calls. For the year 2005, we will continue development of the MVTS Session Controller as a comprehensive network management system. Our Session Controller will be powered with enhanced QoS control mechanisms, as well as advanced analytical tools enabling carriers to perform in-depth network performance analysis and promptly respond to operational changes. Today, these functionalities acquire supreme importance, as carriers now have dozens or even hundreds of peering partners and like never before need to keep their finger on their networks’ pulse."
