NEW YORK -- FiberNet Telecom Group, Inc. (Nasdaq: FTGX - News), a leading provider of complex metro data services, today announced that it has been selected by Equant to provide low-latency Metro Ethernet Transport services in the New York and New Jersey areas.

FiberNet was chosen by Equant as the integrated hubbing source due to FiberNet's rapid installation intervals, quick responsiveness and intense focus on customer service. Equant, a wholly owned division of the France Telecom Group, is the leading provider of global, integrated, secure and customized business communications solutions for multinational organizations.

"We have increased our business over the years with FiberNet because of their high quality of work and their ability to scale their services to our business needs," said Benoit A. Fertil, Telco Access Management, Equant. "FiberNet fully understands that rapid and reliable access to bandwidth translates into positive performance. Their services will extend Equant's network capabilities and provide benefits that older technologies could not."

With this agreement, FiberNet now caters to more than 90% of Equant's Metro Ethernet needs in the New York and New Jersey areas and provides securely managed optical Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. FiberNet's custom- designed suite of Metro Ethernet services includes both switched and dedicated forms of Ethernet connections, and VLAN virtual circuits that can be configured to create point-to-point or multipoint-to-multipoint connections for hub, VLAN or VPN networks.

"We're pleased to be selected by one of our most valued customers to provide these complex data services," said Jon A. DeLuca, President and CEO of FiberNet. "This agreement demonstrates FiberNet's commitment to our client's business and delivering custom-engineered solutions that meet the unique needs of each customer."
