EM4 expands product line with acquisition of PowerNetix IP

BEDFORD, Mass. -- EM4, Inc., an emerging force in design and manufacturing of photonic and integrated optic modules, today announced their purchase of the intellectual property (IP) and assets of San Jose, Calif.-based PowerNetix Inc. The purchase includes PowerNetix Uniline* packaging technology, optical manufacturing fixtures, and all PowerNetix's pending and existing patents.
PowerNetix Inc. is best known for producing pump lasers. Their 980-nm 9000 Series laser modules are qualified according to the Telcordia GR-486-CORE standard, the industry's most stringent reliability test. PowerNetix's existing customer base of companies in the telecom, cable television, and industrial sectors span geographies including North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.
"Acquiring PowerNetix helps EM4 further build our company and our brand," said Basil Garabet, CEO of EM4. "The assets and IP from PowerNetix will help us to expand our product line and our customer base. This is an important step in the growth of EM4."
